Okay, I'm trying to get some opinions on a 2 piece pirate coat...sort of like my corsair set.
It has the detachable sleeves, just like the coat, and it has this great tailed empire piece that goes with it. You wear it over an underbust corset...and there you go. Sex appeal.

So, I hope that my customer that ordered this doesn't mind me sharing her gown with everyone. By the way, she is wearing this for her wedding. That the good heavens for people brave enough to break tradition. Not that I don't respect tradition and enjoy tons of our family traditions.....but I just like seeing something refreshing like this. So, as always, let me know what you think.

  1. She's getting some tail! How can that be bad? : ) I love the combination. It makes it very versatile.

  2. Beautiful! Makes me wish the Hubs was more into pirates than Star Wars...

  3. I second the versatility. I think I'll still drool over the Pirate Coat until I manage to get myself one someday, but this allows for some outfit changing.

  5. you know, this is almost exactly the kind of thing i had in mind for my 2009 halloween costume. (only different colors, and yes i'm totally stalking you)

  6. this is lovely. i would have loved it at my wedding though I must admit that I would have been too traditional to forgo the white. speaking of colors, why is there so little green in your collection? I am waiting for a green to find my sister in law useful for the first time: she get's married and I will now *neeeeeed* a bodice :D

  7. This is Michelle's sister Jill. Check out Ebay, we have tons of green stuff. I was just thinking we needed more red and black!

  8. to jill: but on your website for the custom designs: no green materials, sigh. I will need a custum fitting, very un-standard shape me is, sigh (as it happens, just after posting here I did check out ebay and saw it ;) thanx anyway :D

  9. Man, I don't know how you do it, Michelle- amazingly, each one is better than the last, though I always love your new inventions! The colors are so rich and beautiful and the design is fabulous- a perfect 10!

  13. I really like this design. I love the layered look and approve highly of the detachable sleeves. The colors of this piece are wonderful!

PS- This is the buyer of your black and gold Vixen bodice w/ tails off etsy.

  14. Just wanted to say that I wore one of the "wench" corsets (bought at the little fair in Cedar City) to work (in Omaha, Nebraska) on Halloween, with a black skirt I got at the same time. I work in a pharmacy, so I'm supposed to have to wear a smock, but everyone loved the outfit so much that I didn't have to! Got tons of compliments, and to the women who asked if it hurt working in it for 8 hours, it doesn't unless you bend over wrong. I actually like the support when I'm cramping, takes pressure off my back. Thinking my next investment will be a Vixen corset, but I have to pick the color. Thanks for everything!

  15. That is awesomeness! Personally, I love your Empire/Corsair sets because having the option of two corsets in one package is just too awesome. Add sleeves, and really, I can get a number of events out of one purchase, which is always a good thing. As soon as it hits December I'm going to indulge in one of your pieces, as I have a Valentine's day Ball coming up! (Academia - paid once a month - blegh.)

  16. I love it! You are getting closer and closer to what I want in my custom order.... We have to talk so I can get it ordered...

  17. I really like this. The versatility of the removable sleeves, and I've always loved the clean lines of the Empire set.

  18. I like the clean lines on this - it 'flows' more than the bustle gowns. The detachable sleeves look very useful.
I am starting to dress the way I want, instead of how 'fashion dictates'. I may well be the first 'daily wear steampunk lady' in my country! (South Africa) Why steam? Feminine without being tarty, lots of pockets, I can wear a corset with it, can carry all my 'stuff', lots of pockets, ...
    So...
Have you thought of putting pockets on a jacket or bodice? Or d-rings or fobs for attaching 'hanging pockets'? Or a fitted 'artisan apron' with place to hook pens?
I am sitting at work, taking a break from programming, my hair up in a knot, wearing boots and a shawl, and has a fanny pack with a sewing kit, first aid kit, swiss army knife, multitool, notebook, coloured pencils, mobile phone, and pocket detritus....

  19. Deary, this is the very one I want! well colors may vary, but the style is what i have dreamed about.

Looking forward to buying from you and seeing you come Festival time this year, If you can make I would like to see you at Seadog nights. its a long event but you might make away like a true pirate, booty aplenty! Also I think the cost of the event would be more affordable for you and your husband.
