Adventures in Bloomers

Well, here's my effort at some bloomers that DON'T look like baggy-crotched pajama pants trimmed in lace. They fit more like yoga pants with ruffles. I made these ones out of stretch fabric, so they're actually SUPER comfy. I WILL be listing some pants in my artfire shop, but I haven't graded the pattern for all sizes yet....I'm only up to about a size 14, and I'm honestly not sure how to shape the pants for the sizes above that. Seeing as I've been pumping out mainly corsets for the last 6 years, I have no idea about pants....so I'm thinking about offering a few "trial" bloomers for more curvy gals. If any of you want a pair of bloomers, and you have magnificent hips, then let me know! I really need people to try out the patterns and give me feedback! ;)

  1. Hey Michelle ... I'd love to be one of your trial girls! It turns out that my jeans are a size 14 ... and they're even too SMALL right now!

    (Yep, I need to exercise.)

Let me know when I can help!

  9. These are too adorable! I'm currently floating around a size 16/18, but I'm about 10 weeks pregnant which means that's sure to change soon.

However, if you'd like mom-to-be's view on your magnificent bloomers, I'm totally your girl ;) Just drop an email at the.pink.sylvan(at)gmail(dot)com

  11. Hi! You are amazing ... it's stunning AND inspiring how fast you go from soliciting commments to creating something amazing!

I'm certainly curvy - my jeans are on average size 16 (depends on the brand) and I have a bum that's also, hmmm fluffy. I'm more than happy to help if I can!

  14. Those are awesome. I love that they can be worn without looking or feeling like a diaper, as is the case with most bloomers. I would buy them in a heartbeat!

  18. I am told that I have an epic booty! LOL I am about a size 14-16, problem is I have a smallish sized waist for my hips and butt. Its hard to find pants to fit properly. But I am always looking for hot bloomers. I would love to be a tester for ya.

  19. Those are CUTE and I am definitely larger than a size 14. Love to have some!

  20. I would love if you tried making some things for us tiny folk. 98% of your corsets are for waists 10+ inches of mine.
32 hip, 21 waist, 34 bust and I love your stuff. Can't wait to see these bloomies in action!

  21. these look gorgeous! I can't wait till they're available in your store!

  22. If you still need 'em, sign me up for a trial. I'm not magnificent, I suppose, but I hover around 14/16 in pants.

I will say that these look about exactly like the sort of bloomers I'd like! (and now I want a coppery pair to go with the skirt I just bought from you)

  23. I already posted on your Facebook link but I wanted to ask: where did you and your sister-in-law get those kickass bracer bracelets?

*Is in love with both complete outfits*

  26. I wear about a size 20 or 22 in pants if you still need a tester in that size. I am short waisted, and generally short, though. colleen.mccaffrey@charter.net Thanks.

  27. Yay bloomers! I am smaller than a size 14, but am hoping to see more of these in your shop in all sizes as I have been wanting some cute bloomers for pretty much forever!

  28. I am very much over a size 14 (more like a size 22) and I am desperate for Bloomers! I have been wearing old goucho pants and they really dont work for me or the look Im trying to achieve. I could never find any good bloomers that I could wear with a corset that didnt make my behind look like I had a bum roll permanently attached to it. :/

Otherwise, I will be getting ANOTHER one of your corsets here shortyly and I am SO EXCITED!

  30. LOVE the pants - they are way hot! This is perfect for steampunk...

If you need a size 16/18 (depending on the cut) person, I'd love to help out.

Hope you guys had a great New Years.

  31. I'm interested to see how they look on different sizes and shapes, since they already look cute and sassy on both of you. I like the ruffles (vs lace) since they're more durable and look less aristocratic, thereby more versatile. Are they high waist, or standard pants mid/low waisted? I always have trouble finding cute natural-rise pants to wear with corsets, as anything low just slides the rest of the way down :p
I know there are plenty of ladies already volunteering, but I'd also love to be able to help you fit us larger folk. I'm about a 16 in current retail sizing, so even bigger by traditional sewing pattern standards.

  32. I'm around a size 10-12 but I'm super hippy most of my pants barely fit my bum but are baggy around my legs! And I'm 5 foot nothing! I have three of your corsets too. I like the ruffles more than lace also, maybe put some ruffles on the bum too!

  33. You both look fantastic! I love the feathered headpieces.

Like most of your other respondents, I'm a curvy girl (20ish in RTW) and would be happy to road test bloomers. I'm really excited about them, because I can't fight in your long skirts, and LARP season is fast approaching. Bloomers might just fit the bill.

I still think that elasticized frills made from scrap fabric would look great with these.

  34. I think these bloomers are fab and, at a UK size 18, fit into the curvy category - I would be more than happy to be a guinea pig if you still need volunteers. I have a custom steampunk corset from you via Etsy and can't wait to be able to afford some more.

  35. These are excellent! Stretchy you say? Sounds ridiculously comfy.

  36. I would try out a pair! I've got super-hips on me... last time I measured them they were 44-46 inches...? I will re-measure them for you if you want me to. :D

  37. THOSE ARE THE CUTEST BLOOMERS I HAVE EVER SEEN. *ahem*...sorry for yelling...they're just that amazing! hee...

  38. Those are really cute bloomers! I like the design and idea of how you made them.

AS for curvy hips, well I'm a size 22 in pants so I'm pretty big. I'll help if you're still looking.

Love this idea though, as my last pair of bloomers had to be retired recently.

  39. I am curvy/hippy with a ghetto booty to complement and I would LOVE to "beta test" your bloomers!! You can contact me via Message on FB (facebook.com/gizmocbk) regarding what measurements you need. Everything you make is so cute. I can't wait until you perfect your patterns.

  40. Just saw the listings on Artfire, THANK YOU so much =) Now just to scrounge up cash for a pair of those awesome pants. *runs off to start flipping couch cushions*

  41. I saw a picture of your bloomers on Artfire on the 8th and started drooling.

You prolly still have my measurements (hint,hint)... but it looks like you have so dang many responses that I'm not a priority. LOL

  42. Okay, I'm late to the party, but what about us girls with *no* hips??? We do exist (and I think we are mostly Asian lol)! I'm a size 15/16 in pants, but I carry all my weight in my abdomen and chest so all my pants are baggy in the crotch and thighs! I also have a long torso/short legs/no butt, I don't think this combo can be THAT uncommon, am I a freak of nature or what!? :P my email is katerina [dot] yvette [at] gmail if you're still taking guinea pigs!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I will be a tester as well. I don't have much of a butt. But I do have hips. I'm around a size 20 if you still need testers! I would love be a tester for anything ya got!!
