CUSTOM ORDER ANNOUNCEMENT!

Hey everyone! Just so you all know, we're currently pretty dang backed up with orders...as in, my husband and I are waking up at 4:00 in the morning and working solid until about 8 or 9 P.M. while our poor neglected little toddlers watch way too much Donald Duck and eat way too many microwaved chicken nuggets. I hired my own teenage brother to be my secretary because I literally didn't have time to answer my emails any more, and so he reads me the emails and I dictate responses to him, making sure that he uses my words and flair of language! I hadn't realized how much time was being sucked up by doing all of my own customer service, but with my brother doing it, he is answering emails for 4-5 hours a day, straight! No wonder I was getting sooo behind! I'm truly sorry if I have missed any of your emails or taken longer than you would have liked to respond. The weight of answering them was seriously pressing on me, and just opening my inbox made me instantly sick to my stomach and panicked.
This is just simply our busiest time of year, and I'm dumb enough to have signed up for two massive renaissance festivals as well, so along with all of the custom orders, I have to figure out some magical way to pump out 300 more corsets for my next festival.I know, I know, I should just hire out some more seamstresses? Bleh. It's not that easy. I would have to take the time to seriously train them so they made the level of quality I needed, and I would need to get some kind of contract that would make them promise me that they wouldn't run off and steal my patterns and sell them....plus, they would need to be as fast as me, which is not humanly possible. ;)
We to thank you for all of your business and support, and acknowledge that you are the reason for our success! But, I would also like to plead with you and ask you to remember that we have our limits. If you want a corset by this friday, you should have ordered it two fridays ago, instead of today. Please respect the time it takes to make these, and we'll get everything you need made in a timely manner! Right now, if you order a corset custom fitted to you, your waiting time will be about 3 weeks, plus 2-3 days for shipping. Keep that in mind, especially for the Halloween Season! Thanks again! It's time for me to get back to work!
Michelle

  1. I'm sure with how great the corsets are, people should be willing to wait for them. BTW I really love the picture you have on this blog. I want one!

  4. Hang in there! Your work is lovely and unique enough that you should feel confident about establishing some basic custom order guidelines. Would you loose much business if you set up a policy that says you cannot fulfill custom orders during the months of July and August, for instance? You'll figure it out and even though your kiddos are watching too much TV right now, they have a richer life with you in general because you have integrated your work life with your family. That can be a very good thing!

  5. I ordered a week ago, and *believe me* I can wait as long as it needs to take. As a first-time buyer, I'm ridiculously excited to see what arrives on my doorstep, but I can totally forgive the delay.

...also nice to have an explanation for the one-sentence response I received - so unlike you! Gotta love brothers though!!

  6. I have just discovered you and your beautiful clothing. Any day now my very first purchase (of many to come, I'm sure) will arrive and I'm as anxious as a child on Christmas Eve.

What's a few weeks of waiting to look and feel as beautiful as possible, when it's been years of waiting for that opportunity for some of us?!

    Thank you for that alone.

  7. Thanks so much for posting this! I'm one of the people who didn't get a reply back to an email inquiry a few weeks back. I thought maybe I had just scared you off with my crazy questions but now I see that you are swamped busy! I got a reply today so I'm more than happy! I will make sure my order gives you lots of time.
    Thanks again!

  8. I was wondering how you answered emails all the emails you must get and still have time to sew! Thank goodness you have someone doing it for you. Part of me hopes it calms down soon for your sake, but then part of me hopes it stays busy because your corsets are just so incredible that your business should be booming. Anyway, congratulations on word getting around about you and how awesome you are.

Hope your ankle is feeling better =)

  9. I just got my very first corset and it's absolutely PERFECT! The fit, material, ease of wearing...gah!
I can even sit on a low ottoman and type this while wearing it (over my work clothes, as I tried it on *literally* in the doorway).

    Thank you SO much!

  10. It didn't seem like your normal response, no. But, corset arrived yesterday and it fits perfectly! Yay! Sorry email is making you panic.

Don't want to make you cry, but have you talked to this Ebay guy who rips off your designs? I saw this today and wanted to tear his throat out:

It's partially because I love your hooded corsets so much, but also because my new one from you is an empire hooded corset. Does he realize the moment a real woman puts that on, all of the stress of the front will make that hood pretty useless? UGH! You know what you're doing and he obviously doesn't. Oh, and check out his other stuff right now. SNAKESKIN PANELS on a tapestry corset. ACKACKACK!

  11. And I wept a little when I read that some BRIDES were buying his dresses for their weddings. That crushed velvet crap. They're going to look so cheap and be so disappointed. :(
